THE NATIONAL COALITION
The Politics of Music
If We Don't Fight for Music Education, Who Will?
"American music is perhaps the most influential music in
the world, yet our culture is dying slowly from the inside,"
warned trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. "American children
cannot begin to understand music without instruction."
Speaking at a national forum held by the National
Commission on Music Education, Marsalis lent his voice to
the growing movement of educators, musicians and
business leaders whose aim is to make certain that the
study of music and other arts are included among our
national goals for education.
